About Manheim Soccer Club
Manheim soccer club provides an organized recreational soccer program for the benefits of all participants. The goal of the soccer club is to provide a positive soccer experience for players. The emphasis is on enjoyment of the game while players also learn the value of good sportsmanship and team play, and build confidence and self esteem.
The soccer club is a non-profit and volunteer organization. We rely on members of the community to make an investment of time for our children by volunteering for the club. The soccer board is made up of volunteers who are elected into office for 2-year terms. Board meetings are held monthly and are always open to the public.
There are several programs offered in the soccer club. The intramural program is coed play for children ages 5-8. At this level of play, teams practice 1 time per week, and games are held at Logan Park on Sunday afternoons. Teams participate in a tournament at the end of the spring season. The goal of this program is to introduce soccer skills and team play in a supportive and non-competitive setting. The emphasis is on having fun and building confidence in the game of soccer.
The recreational program is offered for players ages 8 and up. This program is not coed, and involves light travel. All skills levels are invited to participate. Teams in this program practice 1-2 times per week, and play games either Saturday or Sunday. Some of the games will be held at a home field in Manheim, and there will be some travel to neighboring towns. The goal of this program is to continue to encourage individual and team skills in a lightly competitive environment.
The LANCO program is offered for players ages 8 and up. Players must try-out for this more competitive program. Tryouts are held in the spring to place players on a team for the fall and spring season. This program is not coed, and players can expect to travel to other soccer clubs in the area. Teams in the program practice 2 times per week, and play games either Saturday or Sunday. This program is more competitive and serves to further improve individual and team skills and confidence.
Some recreational and LANCO teams also participate in area tournaments at the discretion of the coach. Teams may also participate in indoor soccer programs during the winter months, again at the discretion of the coach. Summer camps are usually offered for both individual and teams for all ages and abilities.
